Originally from Buckinghamshire, Mayur Murali attended the University of Warwick to pursue a BSc Hons in Biological Sciences.
Mayur achieved a 2.1 in his degree and intended to use it to pursue a place on a graduate entry medicine course. However, he was unsuccessful in his applications.
In order to gain an insight into other career options, Mayur sucessfully applied to become the Graduate Apprentice 2008. The Graduate Apprentice is a unique scheme located in Birmingham, where one graduate is chosen to undertake 3 placements in the world of professional services. Mayur's placements have been at Deloitte, LMM, a property managemeny company, and VC Consulting, a management consultancy. Mayur received a job offer from Deloitte on the back of his placement with them to become part of their graduate intake for 2009.
Keeping his options open, Mayur decided to reapply for a place on a graduate entry medicine course for entry in September 2009. He was successful in two of his applications, and has decided to take up the offer to study medicine at Queen Mary's University in London. The skills he has picked up from his year as the Apprentice undoubtedly improved his chances of entry on the medicine course, as evidenced by his success rate second time round.
